Kevin

He was nicknamed Eeyore, due to his propensity to take a slightly pessimistic view of both himself and the world. Not only was Kevin's glass not half full, it was half empty, with a slight crack in it and an insect floating on the top. This led to a few things that Kevin was not overly fond of:
Cyclists in London, or Eco Nazi Neo Fascists as he knew them!
Ken Livingstone - or the main cause of all the worlds ills
Speed cameras (see Ken Livingstone)
Corporate bankers (he had other terms for them)

but when Kevin loved something, his commitment was total.

He loved music. He loved a bit of prog rock, bit of Pink Floyd and a lot of Pat Metheny. In fact, they travelled across the country and Europe watching Pat Metheny. This took them all across the UK, to Montreux and San Francisco.
And then Kev found chillout. He properly loved chillout, which led him to look for the source.

Kev loved a holiday. His holidays with Sally took them to Devon, Disneyland and Ibiza (just to name a few favoured locations). He loved Disneyland, like most blokes his inner child never fully left. As anyone that has sat through the nine and a half hours of video footage from that holiday will attest, they had an amazing time and would quite often go back to the video footage to remind themselves.

He loved Devon, particularly the seafood restaurants and in particular Rick Steins place. He could fully relax and even allowed himself the odd glass of wine.

And he loved Ibiza. I think that this allowed his true personality to come out, whilst he was fully removed from his usual routine. He even went to the club 'Space', though unfortunately no footage exists of him busting some moves. They would return to Ibiza a further 7 times and discovered something new every time.

Kevin loved his caravanning, although apparently, watching him put up an awning up was like an episode of Fawlty Towers.

However, cars were his real lovechild. He loved cars. Any cars. When he first met Sally, we came home one day to find him watching 2CV racing from Belgium that he'd recorded. We knew then that this was a fairly serious fixation.

Kevin was driving all types of racing cars and in all UK tracks, so a true 'petrol head'!
He then took up rally driving with his good friend Chris Brew. To quote Chris, "he used to make me giggle in the forests, he wasn't really in his comfort zone, but he scared the crap out of me on the tarmac!"

Kevin loved his family and friends. He was from a generation and an upbringing where blokes generally didn't show their feelings, so Kevin expressed his by doing stuff for people. We've all received an unexpected gift from Kevin, and I think we've all been on a trip arranged by him, meticulously planned (if not a little late).

He got to see everyone that meant anything to him before he died. Nicola and myself went in to see him the day afterwards and not only did he look peaceful, but he had a smile on his face.

He once said that "life's a competition and the bloke with the most toys at the end wins" - but he may well have changed this. He was smiling at the end because he finally realised that he meant something to so many people.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on!
